Punchestown 3.40

This is a wide open race so it is worth going with one at a price and I like Jessie Harrington’s filly lower down the weights. Her trainer has a good record in this race and ONLY SKY is improving with each run. She finally got her head in front last time by a small margin and likely has more to offer and can outrun her odds. She has eased out to 16/1 at the time of writing which looks too big.

Gin Coco could really be anything after a 14 length win last time on his first run for Harry Fry. He carries top weight which won’t be easy but he could be the biggest improver in here. Luke Short is the other who is interesting on his handicap debut.

Punchestown 4.15

Willie Mullins has only actually won 1 of the 7 renewals but he does look to have a big shout with the improving MT LEINSTER here. He has always thought a fair bit of this horse and he looks to have come into his own recently. He won as he should have at Leopardstown but showed improved form to win by 5 lengths at Fairyhouse last time albeit slightly fortunately. He is up 6lb but there could be more in the locker if called on yet.

Grange Walk took a heavy fall at Fairyhouse in the race the selection won but if bouncing back could have a say. Magic Daze is the other one that might have a big run in her but she needs to settle better on handicap chase debut.

Punchestown 4.50

Not a race to get heavily involved in but I am going to have a small bet on GO ANOTHER ONE who I think will be suited by this. He jumps and stays very well as he showed behind Yala Enki earlier in the season. He looks as though he will be better over this longer trip and I expect a big run.

Shady Operator for connections you always associate with this race is the right favourite having won on the course before but he does need to prove himself at the trip. Potters Corner could have a say on this better ground at a bigger price.

Punchestown 5.25

Klassical Dream travelled like a dream at Cheltenham but couldn’t last out and actually ended up finishing fifth. That has to be concerning to me and I’m not going to take a short price about him here. PAISLEY PARK was a couple of spots in front of him and he had enough go wrong. He hit his flat spot but recovered quite impressively in the closing stages finishing well for third. If he can keep tabs on these I think he might be able to pick them up late and looks good value to do so.

I know Sire Du Berlais was impressive last time but I’m not convinced he can back that performance up. He is around 5/1 too and that looks about right to me. It wouldn’t surprise me if Thedevilscoachman emerged as a greater threat as while he has enough to find he does look a horse on the up.

Punchestown 6.00

25 set to go to post for this ultra-competitive handicap and it has paid to favour those at the top of the market in the last few years. SASSY YET CLASSY has been brought on nicely by Gordon Elliott and with a bit more luck she would be rated higher than 136. She was brought down when last seen at Cheltenham but is never far away on completed starts. She looks good over this trip, has a 7lb claimer and may have more to come. She should be right in the mix here.

The biggest danger to the selection is probably the improving Macs Charm and City Chief who comes into this on winning runs and could have plenty more to offer. A bit further down the weights The Bomber Liston should go well.

Punchestown 6.35

It’s a shame Gentleman De Mee has come out this morning as I was really looking forward to seeing him running. It has blown this race wide open now and I’m keen to side with BLUE LORD for Mullins. We were with him at Cheltenham and he ran creditably when third in the Arkle. I’m not sure that track plays to his strengths and 2 out I felt like he was looming up so perhaps he just didn’t really get up the hill. This should be run to suit and he has to go close.

Gabynako ran well to finish a place in front of the selection at Cheltenham and he has to be respected on that but he was suited by the way that race panned out. Saint Sam is talented but his jumping seems to cost him.

Punchestown 6.35

Blue Lord 9/4

Punchestown 7.10

With plenty of these likely to have improvement to come over fences the narrow vote goes to WESTERN ZARA who is on a hat-trick after winning over hurdles and fences this year. She won easily at Clonmel on heavy ground but does look versatile with regards ground. She has never run a bad race and looks to have a lot more to offer over these obstacles.

Hurricane Georgie will be a danger with a 7lb claimer onboard if in the same form as her last run. Lilith carrying 10-4 for Anthony Honeyball also catches the eye here.

Punchestown 7.45

This is all about JAMES’S GATE isn’t it? Mullins has won this with Yorkhill, Invitation Only and last year with Dysart Dynamo. This son of Shantou made an exciting start bolting up over C&D on debut before chasing home Facile Vega and American Mike in the Champion Bumper last month. That form has been franked since and with further improvement to come he can make it 2 wins from 3 starts. He will be a short price but should win.

Music Drive represents Gordon Elliott but has enough to find. Sir Jimmy Mac won on debut but was unchallenged and this is going to be a great deal tougher. Sir Argus is a stablemate to the selection and looks a nice prospect too so might be a bit of value to hit the frame and potentially even give Mullins a 1-2.
