MY AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 6 AT PAKENHAM ON FRIDAY MORNING!

Race 6 Pakenham 6.30 Copperfield (6/5)

Promising sort who needed the experience on debut but ran well in third and improved to make a winning return at Ballarat in April; backed that up with a near-miss at Bendigo following a slow start; can get firmly back on track.

It’s hard to look past the progressive COPPERFIELD at Pakenham on Friday morning. This 4yo is progressing nicely and looked a bit unlucky having been awkwardly away last time. If he can find some further improvement he should have too much for this field. Maui is a decent yardstick with 3 wins over this trip and 1 at this track which bodes well. He impressed last time and a similar performance would likely see him chase the favourite home. Fun Legend a little more exposed but is 0/8 over the trip which would have to be a worry. Peekays Legacy is 1 from 5 over the trip but lacks experience at this track and will need to be at his best to even lay a glove on the selection here.

Race 1 Wagga 3.00 Tavifern (5/4)

Likeable type who hasn’t done a lot wrong in a handful of starts and ran right up to form only beaten narrowly into third at Canberra last month; won’t need to find much more to get his head in front now so worth chancing.

This looks a great opportunity on paper for TAVIFERN to get his head in front. He has impressed so far in tougher races than this and even a repeat of that Canberra third would likely see him come out on top here. He is by far and away the most likely winner for me so that makes him a decent play at around the 5/4 mark. I can see him being backed into odds-on come post time. Tillman has a similar profile to the selection but doesn’t look to be improving as much as that Hawkesbury sixth was a bit flat. If bouncing back he will make a race of it though. Sleigh’s Belle is 0/14 now so while she has some solid form in the book it’s hard to see her actually winning but again likely won’t be too far away.
