Pontefract 3.45

Interesting opener on ITV Racing with a couple of these with good form in the book already. LADY LAVINA has ran twice and and put two very good runs together. I expect her to step forward again here and take some beating.

Speriamo won last time out and carries a penalty here. She will be a big danger but giving 6lb to the selection seems a lot. Of the rest Top Of The Class could improve again and run into a place.

Pontefract 4.15

I’m confident HIGHWAYGREY will take a fair bit of beating here. He is a four-time C&D winner who granted is on a long losing run but he has been breaking slowly and leaving himself too much to do against better opposition. His mark has dropped as a result and in these calmer waters he looks sure to run a big race.

The danger is likely Love Is Golden who ran well at Chester 8 days ago and if building on that will give the selection most to think about. Of the rest Mackenzie Rose also deserves a mention after winning at Doncaster but she is drawn wide which is a negative here.

Pontefract 4.45

The well bred BARTZELLA can bring up the hat-trick at Pontefract on Sunday. This filly by Golden Horn in the Oppenheimer colours ran on well to fend off Lady Hayes by a neck at Goodwood and despite a 3lb swing I think she can confirm those placings. I don’t think she was in love with the track last time so she probably did well to win. This test should suit better and with further improvement to come I think she’ll come out on top again.

Lady Hayes failed to fire at Haydock last time but that was a tough enough ask and I still think she is the main danger. Glenartney was behind the pair mentioned above at Goodwood but ran well at York and also has to enter calculations. Goldie Hawk is likeable and is a big price but she has been found out at this level before so ultimately that would have to be enough to put you off.

Pontefract 5.15

Tough race so I thought it was worth taking a chance on HAIZOOM bouncing back. Her win at Hamilton 3 starts back was quite taking for the grade and that was a step back in the right direction when third at Musselburgh last time. If she builds on that she is definitely overpriced at 10/1.

Didtheyleaveuoutto definitely a danger but doesn’t really find winning easy so perhaps Overhaugh Street will be the one to give her most to think about. Oleg also deserves a mention despite a lengthy absence.

Pontefract 5.45

There may only be 8 runners for this but it is seriously competitive with all of these in with a chance. ENFRANCHISE is ever so consistent so I am surprised she is such a big price. She has gone close plenty of times and and will likely be right there at the finish again.

Unplugged and Bamboo Boy have scope for plenty more and could prove to be the main dangers. Of the rest Haunted Dream could go well if bouncing back from his last run.

Pontefract 6.15

I thought EXMINSTER would be favourite for this. This son of Ribchester caught the eye when fifth on return at Beverley and stepped forward from that to go down narrowly at Haydock. He stepped forward again to get up late at York last month and that form has been advertised since. The second Golden Voice won at Sandown next time out and the horse that is fav for this Bullet Force ran well behind Outgate at Chester.

The latter could find no extra that day at York though and while the selection is up 6lb I don’t think the swing in weights will be enough to see that form reversed. Churchill colt Million Thanks won on return at Musselburgh and then finished fourth to Jimi Hendrix at Haydock. That winner finished an excellent third in the Britannia so he also has to enter calculations. I’m struggling to see anything else springing an upset.

Pontefract 6.45

The final race at Pontefract see a favourite in Eilean Dubh with cracking form over a mile so it is interesting to see him back down to this trip. I am willing to take him on with MUSIC SOCIETY who at the age of 7 seems as good as even. He is a previous course and distance winner and has only been put up 5lbs for a nice win at Catterick. He rarely runs a bad race and will go close.

Eilean Dubh is a danger as mentioned but Dream Composer could be more of a threat going for his hat-trick.
