MY US NAP RUNS IN RACE 9 AT SARATOGA ON SATURDAY NIGHT!
Race 9 Saratoga 10.37 Early Voting (7/4)
Promising colt who is arguably a shade unlucky not to be unbeaten; won 3 of his 4 starts and had Epicenter behind winning the Preakness when last seen in May; can improve again and looks the one they all have to beat.
This is very much between Epicenter and EARLY VOTING and it’s the latter I am really keen to side with. This colt has looked thoroughly progressive and he clocked a career best beating Epicenter in the Preakness. He has more improvement to come and I think he can confirm that form here and make it 4 wins from 5 starts. Epicenter is so tough and will continue to give his running so still looks the biggest danger. Tawny Port was down the field in the Kentucky Derby but came out and won a Grade 3 last time so at least comes here with confidence high. Likely best of the rest but enough ground to make up with the market principals. Zandon also looks held by Epicenter on recent form.

Race 8 Del Mar 1.37 Shaaz (5/2)
Improving colt who won 2 of his first 3 starts before running a big race up to graded company finishing third last time; scope to progress again and this looks a good starting point for his new barn; most likely winner.
Hard to look past the progressive SHAAZ as he looks a horse firmly on the upgrade. He is almost certain to improve again and if he does he should have too much for these rivals. His form stacks up and I think there is a lot to like. Letsgetlucky was only beaten three-quarters of a length at Oaklawn and has more to come. American Theorem won by a nose at Santa Anita and if he finds more could also be involved. Plenty of others with chances but they need to find a fair bit to trouble this favourite who looks good value to take this out at around 5/2. I think he’ll be well backed in the run up to the race. Desmond Doss is on a hat-trick but this is a much tougher ask on paper so enough to find as well.
