CROSSBAR RATTLED OVERNIGHT! More racing Down Under on Friday morning with action in Australia from Ipswich, Port Macquarie, Geelong, Tamworth and Roebourne. Overnight Double pays 5/1!

Race 8 Ipswich 6.57 Uncle Russ (11/8)

Promising type who has won 2 from 3 and ran on strongly to win the Toowoomba Plate last month, obviously remains open to further improvement and if he does step forward again should prove hard to beat here.

Big chance UNCLE RUSS wins this and wins it well. He is clearly progressing well and when he was beaten he took a bump and got forced wide. He is 2 from 3 and with more to come can get the better of these rivals. The second fav is Billy’s Bro who has just the 1 win from 7 starts but he is 0 from 4 over the trip and definitely needs more to stop this fav saluting the judge. Snazz ‘N’ Charm ran well when second at Doomben and if progressing again might end up being the one to chase home the selection. Double-figure prices the rest but Titanium has a squeak of hitting the frame if you can forgive that Doomben run last month. He will be fitter now so could go well at a bigger price.

Race 5 Port Macquarie 5.55 Annulus (6/4)

Likeable type who showed a good attitude to get on top at the finish to make the breakthrough at Scone last month; can keep improving now he has his head in front and this looks another good opportunity.

The wide draw shouldn’t worry ANNULUS as he likes to get settled early before pouncing late. I think he could prove a cut above this field after winning last time and looks the most likely winner to me on paper. Sassy Choice won at Horsham on penultimate start before letting backers down at Echuca. If she bounces back she might be the danger but a bit to prove after that last run. Apache Blue is a little more exposed than the top pair but still has to be respected having shaped a bit better at Muswellbrook last time. Poet’s Performer was nearer last than first at Grafton but if bouncing back she is another one that might show up well for a long way. The rest look pretty limited.
