MY US NAP RUNS IN RACE 3 AT WOODBINE ON THURSDAY NIGHT!

Race 3 Woodbine 10.52 Executive Effect (4/5)

Promising filly who was given a fair bit to do on debut over 5f but did some good late work and was only beaten narrowly into third; sure to improve from that initial effort; leading claims in this field.

With the step up to 7f looking ideal EXECUTIVE EFFECT can open her account here. She showed more than enough on debut to suggest she has a promising enough future and this won’t take a great deal of winning. T’pring at least has experience on side but she is going to need to do better than that last run to be a player here as on that form she is held by Nicole’s Song. The latter has only run twice and she can improve so might prove a greater threat to the selection. Princess Lavender ran to a decent level on dirt last time denied just a head. If she progresses again she should be in the shake-up as well but I still think the favourite might prove too strong for these.

Race 8 Belterra Park 8.58 Erv’s Wench (13/8)

Likeable mare who showed a smart turn of foot for the grade to win impressively on penultimate start over 6f; failed to prove as effective up to a mile but back down in trip here she is sure to prove popular.

Again it’s not the most inspiring racing Stateside tonight but ERV’S WENCH catches the eye at Belterra Park. She left rivals standing on penultimate start and up to a mile failed to show the same form. Back down in trip I think she is clearly the one to beat in this field so it’s no great surprise to see her figuring as favourite for this as it is definitely winnable. Zebra Cake has won 3 from her last 4 and was impressive last time. This is definitely deeper company though and while she is the danger I think she will need to find more. Candy’s Dream was second last time when the fav was third but she didn’t show her true form there and back down in trip the selection can come out on top this time around.
