Big strong likeable filly who won despite inexperience at Gowran and followed up showing a good attitude under pressure here last time; up in class again but deservedly so and no surprise to see her go and land the hat-trick.
I’ve always thought a fair bit of GODDESS and she has just been brought along steadily by Aidan O’Brien. The way she won at Gowran definitely looked to me like she’d turned a corner (physically and mentally) and it was good to see her follow up here last time. I was pleasantly surprised that she went off 4/1 so it was a good result for us on the day (tipped as our Value Tip). Today she is well found in the market but that’s deservedly so in my opinion and I think she’s going to take a fair bit of beating. Tarnawa obviously knuckled down bravely to win the Give Thanks Stakes at Cork last time but she’ll need more if she is going to stop the O’Brien filly from landing the hat-trick.

Looked a sprinter on the up last year winning three in a row prior to going down just a short head in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot; things haven’t quite gone to plan since but ran well when second to Inns Of Court on return and put Ascot blip behind him when back on track at Deuville; clearly the one to beat.
When he is at his best there is no doubt CITY LIGHT is a serious horse and that win at Deauville last time was much more like it. He should be spot on for this now and will likely take some holding if building on that. The 2/1 on offer looks very fair and I can see him being a warm order come post time. I did have a good look at Momkin as he is a horse I like a lot, ever since landing a touch for us at Newbury on just his second racecourse start. He has acquitted himself well but on all known form I just think the favourite will prove too strong on the day.
