Thursday Night Football Bets
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL KICKS-OFF AT 1.20AM (Friday UK time)
Game Spread – Seattle -1.5pts | Game Total – 49.5 points
NFL week 4 was proved tough with the majority of underdogs covering the spread and plenty winning outright.
The Rams we actually favourites for this game before getting blown away at home to Tampa Bay on Sunday (55-40). They will look to bounce back against a Seattle Seahawks side who have started the season 3 and 1.
Key Stats
- Seattle a tough place to go – The Seattle Seahawks have won 6 of their last 7 home games as their home stadium/fans rate one of the biggest home advantages in the league.
- Surprisingly the over is popular with Seattle – The Seahawks have long been associated with an amazing defence so you think the under would be the key stat however 10/13 have gone over the total.
- The spread usually spot on for Seattle – The Rams have struggle to cover the spread in their last 5 vs Seattle covering just once in those games.
Can the Rams run the ball any less?
Jarad Goff threw the ball an astounding 68 times in the loss to the Buccs with just 11 run plays called. Considering the run has been key to this offence you have to work that Todd Gurley isn’t anywhere near his peak currently.
On the plus side the Seahawks rank 6th against the run so could be worth passing it plenty in Seattle on Thursday, however Goff rates much worse on the road than he does at home so it is worrying times for the Rams.
Will the run game open it up for Wilson again?
Seattle have been very good at running the ball plenty through Chris Carson and even Russell Wilson himself to keep the opposition defence on their toes which is opening up the big passing plays which have resulted in 8 touchdowns this season through the air.
The Rams defence ranks middle of the pack across the board on run and pass but 26th in points given up. This combined with a few injuries in the secondary should give the Seahawks a great opportunity to attack the Rams however they like.
Thursday night football verdict and bet
With the Rams defence there for the taking currently I will be siding with the Seahawks to win at home. With regards to the total at first glance it looked high but with the Rams slinging it around plenty and the Seahawks having the balance to score easily I think the over is the way to go so would be putting those in a double.
