Carlisle 2.55 Penny Mallow (11/10)
Well bred mare who won a bumper at Fakenham on debut; midfield in a highly competitive bumper at Cheltenham on next start; winning debut over hurdles at Plumpton and followed up impressively last Wetherby; looks a nice prospect.
The double penalty obviously makes things tougher but even so PENNY MALLOW is taken to come out on top here and make it a perfect 3-3 over hurdles. She has looked extremely promising in just a handful of starts to date and might just have too much class for these. She is likely to go forward under Gavin Sheehan and should be tough to peg back. I loved the way she found more once Prince Llywelyn came to her quarters and that attitude should help her here. Lily’s Gem was third to a nice horse in Opposites Attract at Down Royal but wasn’t so good last time so needs to get back on track.

Wolverhampton 5.30 Rockesbury (7/4)
C&D winner who ran right up to his best when second to Ruby Gates here over further last month; only headed late so makes plenty of appeal dropping back in trip racing off the same mark; looks sure to go close.
Obviously the lengthy losing run isn’t ideal but at this level ROCKESBURY looks the one to side with for David Loughnane. He ran right up to his best when only edged out late here last time and a repeat of that back down to 7f should hopefully see him back in the winners enclosure. The fact Pearl Spectre is the second favourite says a lot about the race for me. He has gone 26 runs without a win so it shows you how much this event is lacking in quality. Come On Bear was a fair fourth last time and also enters calculations but I’ll be disappointed if the favourite can’t get the job done here.
