THE US NAP RUNS IN RACE 10 AT OAKLAWN PARK TONIGHT!
Race 10 Oaklawn Park 11.38 Merneith (7/4)
Did plenty early when worn down late on debut at short odds at Santa Anita in January; improved breaking smartly and getting on the speed before chinned late last time; more to come as she gains experience and this very winnable; most likely winner.
It’s hard to pick holes in MERNEITH here. She looked to need the outing on debut when only edged out late and definitely improved when denied a nose last time. She hit the gate flying and was quickly on the lead and even with 50 yards to go she looked home and hosed but somehow Princess Mo lunged again on the line to prevail. With further gains on the cards tonight she should get off the mark. I’m actually quite surprised to see 7/4 as I think there is value in that price. I make her an even money if not odds-on shot.

Race 5 Tampa Bay Downs 7.45 Queens Embrace (3/1)
Promising filly who is chasing four wins in a row; thrived since switched to this track and holds both Sugar Fix and Real Doozie on recent form; likes to be ridden quietly before coming with a sustained challenge; great attitude, wants to win.
The market is speaking favourably about the chances of QUEENS EMBRACE here and the traders were probably feeling a bit generous installing her at 3/1! She showed real fight to run down Real Doozie over track and trip last time to complete the hat-trick and she was well on top at the line. With the promise of more to come she should confirm that form and make it four in a row tonight. The latter is a danger again as she is in great form herself. Sugar Fix improved from that second to win last time so is also involved.
