THE US NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 4 AT GOLDEN GATE FIELDS ON FRIDAY NIGHT!

Race 4 Golden Gate Fields 10.56 Mon Camo (11/10)

Allowed to find his stride up the rail last time before making sustained headway switched out and finding plenty up the straight to win impressively; this doesn’t look any tougher so the one to beat again (should confirm that form).

Hopefully we can get our best bet back on track Stateside tonight and we head to Golden Gate Fields where MON CAMO looks to have obvious claims of following up. He won readily last time with Unbridled’s Skye and Sound Judgment trailing in behind and a similar scenario is likely to pan out here. He was barely touched with the whip until into the straight so that suggests he had a fair bit up his sleeve. Sierra Melody showed a good attitude to win here last month but he’ll find this tougher. May end up running into a place at a nice price though so worth considering. He is probably the pace angle but Mister Mojo does like to make it as well so interesting to see what happens early.

Race 7 Woodbine 9.30 Avie’s Mesa (7/4)

Useful type who’s experience in Graded company could make all the distance down in class; not beaten far in a very good race here last month; lightly raced especially on turf so should have more to come; got to go close.

The one to beat here is AVIE’S MESA down in grade. He has been running well in much better races than this without getting his head in front and this will represent a welcome  drop in class and he could prove a formidable force in these calmer waters. Quite surprised to see 7/4 available as I thought he’d be shorter. Corduroy Road won well when last seen on turf but wasn’t so good up in grade on a synthetic surface last time. Can bounce back and emerge as the main danger to the selection. Explode is making his turf debut and will be a threat if transferring that dirt form. That’s a big ask though especially against the front two in the market. Hard to see much else getting involved.
