THE US NAP (BEST BET) HAS WON TWICE IN THE LAST THREE DAYS! RUNS AT BELMONT!

Race 9 Belmont Park 10.20 Royal Approval (11/8)

Improving filly who was back to her very best winning by 6 widening lengths at Kentucky Downs last month; more to come now and she is clearly the one to beat in this field if reproducing that sort of performance.

This is a step up for ROYAL APPROVAL but given how impressive she was at Kentucky Downs last month she can take it in her stride. She blew out at Royal Ascot in June but had excuses and has put that firmly behind her. She could be a smart horse in the making so very much one to keep on side. Niente and Rossa Veloce also like to lead so it will be interesting to see what happens in the early exchanges but I think she has the class-edge on these and should prove too good. Magisterium makes her US debut here having been previously trained by Michael Dods in the UK and can give the selection most to think about. Union Gables is better than she showed last time and is also considered.

Race 5 Golden Gate Fields 11.27 Thorn Hill Cat (2/1)

Useful type who is chasing a hat-trick following two convincing wins over track and trip the last twice; showed a good attitude to prevail again last time and this doesn’t look any harder so obvious chance of going in again.

Hard to get away from the hat-trick seeking THORN HILL CAT here. He has won well the last twice and is clearly at the top of his game right now. This looks a great opportunity for him to go in again and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t get the job done under Evin Roman. Buster Douglas has been running in better races than this so has to enter the reckoning. He is the closest in the betting and will probably give the selection the most to think about. Needs a bit more on recent form though. Lovenseek prevailed by a nose last time and should back that up so also has to be considered here. Iron Alex was only fifth in a similar event last time and will need to find more from somewhere to figure.
