NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT FONTWELL ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON!
Fontwell 1.38 Beauport (7/4)
Likeable sort who showed clear promise in a bumper here on debut before looking to need the experience on hurdles debut at Southwell; stepped forward to win impressively over further here last time; bags of potential.
He’ll need more under a penalty here but it was hard not to be impressed with the way BEAUPORT won last time and with scope to improve he looks a horse to keep on the right side of today and moving forward. This isn’t a bad race but if he’s as good as I think he is then I expect him to follow up. Golden Boy Grey made a winning debut at Sandown but took a big step backwards when down the field at Newbury. He has a few questions to answer off the back of that but if bouncing back he should give the selection a race at least. Whatya On About is bred to be pretty useful and showed promise on debut at Chepstow so can improve too. Looks best of the rest.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT SANDOWN ON THURSDAY!
Sandown 3.40 Pipesmoker (2/1)
Promising horse who finished third to Chantry House in a strong novice hurdle on debut over timber at Cheltenham before improving to chase home Sporting John at Ascot; needs to settle but clearly has a big future.
There is no doubting the potential of PIPESMOKER here. He clearly hasn’t been the easiest to train and he is quite a big horse but I think he can make a winning return. His form stacks up with the likes of Chantry House and Sporting John and he should win this before going on to better things. Robin’s Dream could obviously be a nice prospect in the making too but the favourite sets a strong standard and I’ll be surprised if he can beat him if he returns in good order. The pair are likely to dominate this but Red Rookie is also worth considering given he is almost certain to do better in time. It will be interesting to see who leads as there isn’t a great deal of pace engaged.
Daily Double
The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Fontwell and Sandown on Thursday afternoon.
