Thursday’s Best Bets
LET’S GET BACK ON TRACK! Another quiet day with racing from Chepstow, Ludlow, Cork and Sedgefield. The Daily Double pays 9/1! Fingers crossed.
Scroll down to find our most confident selections (NAP & NB) PLUS race-by-race picks for every race across all FOUR meetings.
NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS AT LUDLOW ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON!
Ludlow 3.15 El Presente (6/4)
Came to life following a wind op last year winning 4 from his last 5; showed a really good attitude to get there in the final stride at Wincanton; up 6lb but still has more to offer and could have too much for these.
The NAP was edged out close home yesterday with Harry Skelton dropping his whip over the last. Not having much luck at the moment but hopefully we can get the ship back sailing in the right direction this afternoon. We head to Ludlow for our best bet and EL PRESENTE is worth sticking with on return. He has thrived since a wind op and even under a further 6lb rise he is taken to go in again. He goes notably well fresh and should be hard to peg back. Checkitout bounced back to win at Southwell last time but he beat a horse in second who doesn’t want to win so it’s hard to know how strong that form is here. He looks the danger but you feel he needs more to trouble the favourite.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT SEDGEFIELD ON THURSDAY!
Sedgefield 4.25 Good Boy Bobby (3/1)
Useful hurdler who has also won over fences; good effort when fifth to Dashel Drasher in a gruelling race at Ascot but flopped back over hurdles last time; eased in grade as a result and the one to beat if bouncing back.
This looks a good opportunity for GOOD BOY BOBBY to get back on track. His best form is easily good enough to see these off so I’m willing to forgive him that below par effort last time. He is in much easier company now and I expect him to take full advantage. I’m To Blame should put good pace to the race so hopefully he gets into a nice rhythm before picking them up. Daryl Jacob has had just 1 winner from his last 26 rides so he should turn a corner soon. He also rides one of our Notebooks today so it has potential to be a good day for him. Ashington will appreciate the ground and is feared most but he does have a bit to prove after that last run where he was well backed too.
