THE US NAP (BEST BET) WON LAST NIGHT AND RUNS AT BELMONT PARK TONIGHT!

Race 7 Belmont Park 10.16 Starfront (11/10)

Promising filly who showed bright speed to get on the lead and dictate before winning readily over 6f here this time last year; not seen since but likely to have improved and this looks a good starting point for her.

The way STARFRONT won on debut was mightily impressive and while it is slightly concerning that we haven’t seen her for over a year if she is fit enough to do herself justice here she should win this before going on to better things. She really could be anything as she travelled powerfully throughout on debut before scampering away form them late. This looks very winnable and as long as she is a positive in the betting I don’t see her beaten. More Moonshine made a bright start winning on debut at Saratoga very much head in chest but she was poor last time. If she bounces back she might put up some sort of a challenge but enough to prove on the balance of it.

Race 7 Belmont Park 10.16 Starfront (11/10)

Race 8 Indiana Grand 12.02 Malpais (5/4)

Smart type who made it five in a row at Belterra Park last month, showing good speed to get to the front and then staying on strongly to win by 3 lengths; finds plenty off the bridle and while this is tougher again he has a big chance.

This represents a step back up in grade but even so the thriving MALPAIS can bring up the six-timer at Indiana tonight. He is a horse at the top of his game right now and if he repeats that run that saw him score by 3 lengths last time he is going to be hard to beat. Boom Five Thousand looks the only other horse likely to go forward but I think the selection holds him on the clock so he should get to the front. The pair could easily slip this field. D’Yank is probably the biggest danger from the closers. He has won 2 of his last 3 and showed a good attitude last time so should be doing his best work late but it might not come too soon. W W Candy is on a hat-trick and also deserves respect.
