Newcastle 3.00

I had this between Tarroob and SAYF AL DAWLA and it’s the latter I’m keen to side with at a slightly bigger price. This Frankel colt improved to beat a good yardstick in Tres Speciale at Salisbury up to this trip for the first time a couple of months ago. He was then well backed on handicap debut at Yarmouth and ran creditably again to finish third beaten just 3 lengths. The two horses in front Iconique and Bague D’Or both have potential to do better and I thought it was a good race. With more to come he can go close.

Pivotal filly Tarroob was disappointing at York but that was a competitive race and she will find this easier back on the AW. Oz Legend has been the one for money this morning and he is also entitled to plenty of respect down to a mark of just 79 on debut for James Ferguson.

Newcastle 3.00

Sayf Al Dawla 4/1

Newcastle 3.30

This looks like an ideal opportunity for MUTARAAFEQ to get his head in front in what is a very weak race. He has gone close on his last 3 runs with a third and a second at Epsom followed by a third at Chelmsford over 1m2f last time. If he is in the same form as last week he will take a lot of beating dropping back down to a mile. He can be keen so I think this is his optimum trip.

The only danger I can really see is Silver Bubble who on her best form can trouble the selection but will need to step it up. The rest of these would need to improve substantially to cause the selection any issues. Great Ridley has been nibbled at but he has enough to prove and might need more time.

Newcastle 3.30

Mutaraafeq 4/7

Newcastle 4.00

Another tricky race with a tentative vote going to DANIEL DERONDA for David O’Meara. This son of Siyouni won here last year so acts well at the track and shaped well when fourth over C&D 11 days ago. He was only beaten 2 lengths at the line and with the cheekpieces back on I think he can build on that. If he does that would put him right in the mix as there is no real standout in this line-up.

Perfect Swiss is likely to go off favourite for Tim Easterby and has won 3 times over C&D. He was a good second to Midnite Bridge last time (in front of Daniel Deronda) and has to be feared again. At a bigger price 4-time C&D winner Broctune Red could also have a squeak down a 1lb having ran okay when sixth here last time.

Newcastle 4.30

This looks wide open with it hard to rule out any of these out but a tentative vote goes to FIREBOMB. He has finished second on 4 of his last 6 starts and looks handicapped to go well here. Gianluca Sanna takes off another 7lb which should be pivotal here and I can’t see him not running well. I’ll be backing him each way at 6/1 but I’ve also included him in the Mixed Acca to play at 6/5 which I think is a cracking bet.

At a nice each way price the main danger for me is Iur Cinn Tra who is now down to a mark of 68 and in an easier race so could be a tad overpriced. Lucky Man is fav at the time of writing but I think that is more on potential than what he has actually achieved on track so perhaps one to take on tonight.

Newcastle 5.00

Beaten less than a length at Kempton last month that was a career best for NOTEBOOK and if things pan out favourably here she could finally shed the maiden-tag. That last run suggests she is still improving to some extent and up just 2lb she could take a bit of beating. The step back down to 7f looks a good move and I think she is going to go close.

Copper Mountain had to come from much further back than ideal so shaped with clear promise on handicap debut at Redcar last time. If she builds on that she could be the danger to the selection. Winter Siege was behind the selection at Brighton so has enough to find on that run. Night Of Thunder filly Catatumbo is very much the unexposed horse in the field but she hasn’t shown a great deal so will need to improve now switched to handicaps but might need more time.

Newcastle 5.30

For a Class 6 this looks quite a good little race with some of these looking like they will be in better races before long. ZENZERO caught the eye over course and distance a week ago recovering from a slow start to win a shade cosily at the line. He travelled really well and seemed value for more at the finish. He only carries a 6lb penalty and this son of Twilight Son could easily be the one to beat.

The main danger is probably Aquamas who ran a cracker at Ayr last time just losing out by a short head. If he can translate that to this surface he will give the selection something to think about. Jems Bond often ends up well backed but hasn’t won since 2019 now and while he could go well he has to be vulnerable for win purposes once again.

Newcastle 5.30

Zenzero 9/2 each way

Newcastle 6.00

I thought MR TREVOR would be vying for favouritism for this so 13/2 at the time of writing is generous. This son of Kodi Bear looked good beating the progressive Kats Bob (runner-up and won twice since, beating a subsequent winner last time) at Thirsk back in August and has held his form well since. He was only beaten a length and a half at Catterick last time and if he can reproduce that sort of form on the AW tonight he should definitely be going close under Shane Gray.

Champagne Supanova was a good third to Another Dawn at Wolverhampton on return last time and if he builds on that he will definitely figure in the finish. Sleight ran well over C&D last time closing up nicely late and also has claims. Rhubarb remains a maiden but looks capable of better at some stage.

Newcastle 6.00

Mr Trevor 13/2 each way

Newcastle 6.30

13 set to go to post for this competitive contest and MISS CONNAISSEUR is of interest on handicap debut. She was a huge price (150/1) when finishing a close fourth over course and distance and I have a sneaky suspicion she is better than a mark of 46 the way she ran on last week. There has been money for her already at the time of writing so worth keeping an eye on the market.

Absolute Dream is the biggest threat back down to 6 furlongs after disappointing at 7 furlongs last month. If in the same form as his run at Hamilton this previous course and distance winner will have a big say. Dylan’s Lad is on a workable mark and has the visor back on so also has a squeak. Kodi Gold has been frustrating to follow so best watched for now.
