NAP – Best selection of the evening
Ascot 1.15 Skytastic (5/4)
Exciting prospect who won both starts in bumpers and confirmed that promise making a winning hurdles debut at Doncaster last month; form boosted since; sure to improve and well placed to remain unbeaten.
I liked what I saw from SKYTASTIC on hurdles debut and he remains a really exciting prospect for Sam Thomas. This is certainly no given but I’m fully expecting him to make it 2-2 over hurdles and to remain unbeaten. Charlie Deutsch is in the saddle again and he couldn’t really be in better form. The horse he beat at Doncaster Godrevy Point has won since and the form looks solid given that pair pulled nicely clear. The danger looks to be Scarface for Colin Tizzard. I thought he ran well when second to Serious Charges at Exeter and he is likely to step forward from that effort. Ballyblack chased home Brave Kingdom before winning at Exeter and is another horse that looks to have a bright future.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT HAYDOCK!
Haydock 3.50 Hillcrest (11/8)
Looked a horse going places winning at Cheltenham last month making it 3-3 over hurdles; unseated early on last time and best to forgive that; brings tons of potential to the table and should resume progress.
The way HILLCREST beat I Am Maximus at Cheltenham on penultimate start was mightily impressive and while he unseated at that venue since it remains early days for him and I fully expect him to bounce back here. He steps up to 3 miles for the first time and looks sure to relish it. Bar Green Book this looks a very winnable Grade 2 and I think he’ll bounce back. The latter is on a real roll himself with 3 wins from his last 4 too. That form beating Beauport at Sandown looks very solid and he should keep the favourite honest at least. I just don’t seen anything living with the selection late as his big stride and stamina come into play. Of the rest Scipion is worth noting but needs more time and experience.
