Ludlow 12.15
This step up in trip should bring about further improvement for GREEN BOOK and if it does he should follow up. He did all his best work at the finish to win convincingly at Haydock last time and is comfortably the one to beat on that form. He drew nearly 5 lengths clear from Chti Balko and that horse is a decent yardstick. He came 6 lengths clear from the rest so there is no reason to doubt the form.
What A Glance made a winning start for this yard at Worcester but that race did look to fall apart and up 8lb he couldn’t follow up at Southwell. He should still run his race here so may well emerge as the danger but has enough to find to overhaul the fav. Bridge North also has some potential.
Ludlow 12.45
Just the 4 runners go to post for this handicap chase and it looks an intriguing race between the top two in the market. The bookies are finding it hard to split them but I give the slight edge to MINELLA TRUMP who has won his last 6 starts over fences and doesn’t have to contend with a big rise in the weights to add another to his winning run.
Scene Not Herd has won both of his chase starts easily and has been raised 10lb as a result. He undoubtedly has plenty to come but I feel the selection might just have the edge here. The other two in the field will need to step forward on their recent form or for it to become very tactical to get involved.
Ludlow 1.15
This is a good race that was been won by some nice horses in recent years. Chilli Filli took it in 2017 followed by Liberty Bella, Getaway Totherock and Misty Whisky. Any of the top 3 in the betting have the potential to be pretty decent here but I’m keen to side with LADY OF THE NIGHT for Kim Bailey. This mare by Midnight Legend returned from a 10-month absence to win by over 8 lengths at Fontwell last time. This longer trip should be right up her street and with plenty of rain forecast conditions could prove ideal.
Miss Fairfax also brings potential to the table having run well on hurdles debut at Leicester. She can improve so should run well. Nextdoortoalice won at Doncaster finding plenty off the bridle and also looks to be right in the mix up in trip. Kimmins has been nibbled at and should be best of the rest.
Ludlow 1.45
This looks a competitive race with all 7 of these in with a fair chance. NOT AVAILABLE stepped forward when beating Solo at Newbury last time and that rates some of the best form on offer. He has only been upped 3lb for that win and if in the same form should be bang there again so it doesn’t surprise me that he is vying for favouritism at the time of writing.
Fidelio Vallis is the main danger with both of his most recent runs in good company and should be much more competitive back in handicaps. There are plenty of other dangers and even Ashutor at 33/1 could have a shout down in the weights.
Ludlow 2.15
I’d go as far to say as this is one of my strongest Notebooks of the entire month. NOTEBOOK defied a 200-day absence to make a winning return over fences at Newbury and had the field well strung out in behind. He is up 5lb for that but has potential to keep progressing now and I think connections have found a suitable opportunity for him to follow up. He is very much unexposed over staying trips and I can see him relishing 3 miles in time. He is likely to be ridden patiently again and given how well he jumped the last day he should get a nice toe in before picking them off late.
As you know The Newest One is a horse I like as well and it was good to see him put that Warwick second right at Doncaster last month. He is a bit unlucky not to be coming here chasing a four-timer so looks the danger but he doesn’t have much scope and is up another 3lb so will need to find more.
Ludlow 2.45
This race looks like BALCO COASTAL’s to lose after a very impressive hurdles debut. You would expect him to improve further with experience and fitness and I would be surprised if he was beaten even under a penalty here. He is very short in the betting so is hard to back as a single but we’ve included him in our Mega Acca today.
Frere D’Armes is interesting for the Skeltons and could be the main danger on his Rules debut. Of the rest Iontach Cheval has won his last two and even though it wasn’t as impressive as the selection he still has to be respected.
Ludlow 3.15
I think by now you know our thoughts on bumpers so no strong opinion in the lucky last. GALANTE DE ROMAY represents Kim Bailey and David Bass and has to make any shortlist here. She is a half-sister to Espoir De Romay and looks a promising type on paper. Horses from this yard are often ridden forward and I expect her to know her job here despite potentially tough conditions.
Call Blue has experience on side finishing down the field at Ffos Las and should strip fitter now. I expect her to get competitive but she is probably beatable. Hana Collonges represents Nicky Henderson and is bred to have a future so also has to enter calculations.

Jumps racing over at Ludlow on Wednesday afternoon. We have another Mixed Acca for you today which is our last one before Christmas and includes some of our stronger bets on the card. Pays 20/1!
