Beverley 2.30 Evocative Spark (5/4)

Frankel colt who made a really promising start for his new yard going down just half a length to another nice prospect over C&D 8 days ago, doing best of those up with a strong pace; hard to beat off the same mark.

That looked a decent race EVOCATIVE SPARK finished runner-up in over C&D last time and off the same mark this afternoon he should take a lot of beating with further improvement to come. He should get a nice toe into the race off I’m A Gambler and I’m expecting him to pick up that rival in the closing stages to score. The latter was progressive last season but should do better for the run here. Animato didn’t look to enjoy softer conditions at York and might be best forgiven that. He still has potential so shouldn’t be easily dismissed. Ana Gold is also open to improvement but is another one that might come on for this outing. Matty Too looks up against it as is the most exposed.

Invincible Spirit filly who improved to win readily at Wolverhampton and then followed up on handicap debut at the same venue back down in trip; good effort up 10lb on final start; remains unexposed and do better again.

With the promise of more to come DUBAI HOPE looks a good bet to make a winning return at Chelmsford on Thursday. She only had 5 starts as a 3yo and there is a good chance we haven’t seen the best of her yet. She made a winning handicap debut in October and only narrowly failed to land the hat-trick up 10lb. She is likely to have done well over the winter and this looks a realistic starting point before going on to better things in time. Asad has won over C&D before but is on a lengthy losing run and is hard to recommend on the balance. Spirited Guest wasn’t disgraced last time and might be the one to finish second. Full Intention is below his last winning mark but needs to do more.
