MY NAP NEEDS A WINNER AND RUNS ON THE AW AT NEWCASTLE ON WEDNESDAY!

Newcastle 3.30 Rocket Rod (15/8)

Likeable type who came from last to first to win impressively over a mile here on penultimate start; defied a 9lb rise with a bit in hand over same track and trip last time; 5lb higher and back in trip but hat-trick beckons.

Given the horse ROCKET ROD beat over a mile here last time has come out and won since I think he is capable of defying a further 5lb rise in the weights. He was switched off again last time and came storming through late to get up close home. He is back down to 7f here but he should get a good pace to target with both Mostallim and Turbo Command in here. He travels so strongly and as long as he gets the gaps again he should prove too good. 5lb claimer Jonny Peate was seen to good effect last time and actually did well to switch him left as the gap closed up the rail. He should be able to navigate another path through and the hat-trick looks on the cards. Mostallim might still finish second.

Yarmouth 7.40 Sparked (2/1)

Well bred filly by Night Of Thunder who left previous form behind to run on strongly and make the breakthrough over C&D 8 days ago; this track and trip clearly suits her well and she is taken to confirm that form with Arzaak.

I know there is a 7lb swing in the weights between SPARKED and Arzaak but now the former has made the breakthrough there is good reason to think she has more to come. She ran on strongly as the line loomed and was well on top where it mattered. Pat Cosgrave is in the saddle again and this filly looks the one to beat. Arzaak came with his effort last time and ultimately proved second best but he does get Tom Marquand back up now so might be able to close the gap a little. Pretty Shiftwell also ran in that race finishing third and shouldn’t be too far away again. It really wouldn’t surprise me if they were the 3 to finish in the frame once more. Enchanted Night enough to prove.
