Race 2 Ascot 5.39 Amelia’s Contraire (11/10)

Smart filly who rounded off her 2yo campaign with a convincing win over further here in November; game effort back from five months off to finish runner-up here last time and with further progress likely she should be tough to beat; most likely winner.

There’s plenty of pace on here so it won’t surprise me if Pike decides to drop AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE in here. She came from off the pace to win readily on her penultimate start so is tactically versatile. She looks the biggest improver in the field and she should have more to offer yet. Warfish had a tough ask last time and ran below par but will find this easier. He needs to bounce back but looks the main danger to the selection if doing so. Smart Princess will probably need the experience on just her second start.
