Best bets in Australia in the early hours of Wednesday morning
We’ve had a good look at the form overnight and here is what we like at Sandown, Doomben and Kensington (Randwick).

Race 1 Sandown 3.25 Galenus (6/5)
Smart type who has won three in a row since third on debut; again justified favouritism at Cranbourne tucking in off the speed and finishing best; great draw inside so should hug the rail and prove too good again.
Sticking with the progressive GALENUS here for Patrick Payne and Billy Egan. He continues to go from strength to strength winning all three starts since a promising debut. First look at this track but it promises to suit and the inside draw looks a big plus too. Quite surprised to see odds against so worth snapping up as should get backed come post time. Both Widespread and Lady Brook are nice horses so this should be a race that works out well going forward.

THE AUSSIE NEXT BEST RUNS AT KENSINGTON (RANDWICK) IN THE EARLY HOURS OF WEDNESDAY MORNING!
Race 6 Kensington 6.45 Le Gai Soleil (5/4)
Improving filly who showed a great attitude to make the breakthrough at Canberra and then followed up impressively at Kembla Grange last time, winning by over 3 lengths at the line; this tougher but can improve again and remains the one to beat.
I know this looks tougher for LE GAI SOLEIL but I still don’t want to oppose her. She can keep improving and could take the step up in class in her stride. She really impressed last time and if she comes with a run like that again I can’t see anything managing to hold her out. It’s a good race so there are a couple of dangers. Peace Of Mind won well at Newcastle on return and can kick on again. Should get involved. Baanone also won when last seen but usually needs his first run back. Still should be thereabouts though.
