THE SOUTH AFRICAN NAP RUNS AT VAAL ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON!
Vaal 2.25 Curvation (1/1)
Curved Ball filly who has been very consistent in recent starts; won over 1m2f on good to soft ground at Turffontein in March; beaten narrowly on return; fitter now and big chance despite a wide draw; sure to go close.
There’s a lot to like about the claims of CURVATION coming into this. She doesn’t know how to run a bad race and only missed out narrowly on reappearance over C&D last time. She should strip fitter for that and looks to have major claims of going one better. That’s reflected in her price but I fully expect her to justify favouritism. She does have a tricky gate but I think she has the ability to overcome it in such a winnable race. Bold Ellie ran well last time and looks the biggest danger on form.

Vaal 11.30 Wine Tasting (11/8)
Byword filly who showed plenty of ability on debut to finish third over 6f at Turffontein, only beaten just over a length; sure to know more now and with the usual improvement from one run to the next should be too strong here.
This looks a really weak maiden and I’ll be majorly disappointed if WINE TASTING doesn’t take it out. She showed plenty on debut and was only reeled in late. Back in trip with that initial experience under her belt she should quite simply go and win. Ashanti is her nearest rival in the betting but she is yet to even place in three starts so is readily opposed for me. Spectral probably the main danger as she ran her best race to date when second last time. Hard to see anything else involved.
