Race 6 Sam Houston 12.25 Vice Versa (6/5)

Improving all the time and made it 3 wins in a row at Delta Downs over 7f last month; this tougher again but has won at a higher level in the past and thriving so what’s not to like? Should take all the beating.

This does look a good race but I’m confident VICE VERSA is up to the task. He is looking to land a four-timer and ticks plenty of boxes given he was landed a $52K content in the past. He likes to race on the speed but getting a toe in would suit him too so I’m not overly concerned with how this might pan out. Dreams Of Valor is the danger but he was beaten over 20 lengths last time and while this is notably easier he isn’t exactly a horse coming here with confidence high right now. A bit to prove. Similar comments apply to Rotation as he actually won a Grade 3 2 years ago but hasn’t been in any sort of form lately so needs to bounce back too. The fav should have too much for them.

Race 8 Fair Grounds 10.23 Unitedandresolute (6/4)

Promising colt who has ran some big races in defeat so far and again acquitted himself well when second over C&D last time; open to improvement back on turf and no surprise to see him finally open his account.

This looks all about UNITEDANDRESOLUTE to me. This colt has finished second or third on all 7 starts and looks capable of better yet especially switching back to turf now. He finished ahead of Leroy Jenkins last time and looks set to confirm that form. Koufax has only had two starts but has shown some ability and ran well when third last time beaten 4 lengths. With further improvement on the cards he looks to be the biggest danger to the selection. Prairie wasn’t beaten far last time but did weaken close home. He should appreciate the step back in trip and is also entitled to plenty of respect. At a bigger price Copa has some solid form in the book and might outrun his price-tag.
