Race 5 Flemington 5.05 Kurabui (4/5)

Exciting mare who is a perfect 4-4 after running on strongly from midfield to win again at Sandown last month; improving all the time so with the promise of more to come she can make it a perfect five-timer here.

There’s been lots to like about KURABUI so far and the only negative here is going to be her price. She is 4 from 4 and has relished this trip winning twice over it already. Starouz is the most likely leader but hopefully a couple push forward to give the selection a nice toe in. The form of that last win has been well advertised by the second since so no reason why she won’t take care of these. Hard to pinpoint an exact danger but perhaps Degraves is still capable of better after 7 starts. He has lost his way a bit but will find this a bit easier so probably the value call to finish second. Betcha Flying is quite a big price but she is coming up against some real improvers so a place is probably her best hope.

Race 8 Rosehill Gardens 6.45 Katalin (1/1)

Promising mare who ran on strongly from midfield to make a winning return following 16 months off the track at Randwick last month; fitter now and has tons of potential so good chance she can go in again before going on to better things.

This is understandably tougher but even still KATALIN should holds all the aces here. McDonald sticks in the plate and this mare clearly has a bright future. She will strip fitter and coming up against a better quality of horse could see her in an even better light for me as she will relish a true gallop. Belluci Babe has been running well and she will pick up the pieces if the selection does disappoint. Expat is 3 from 6 and should be winding up strongly. Likely to be hitting peak fitness now so definitely catches the eye as well. Rock My Wand best of the rest but make no mistake this does have a bit of strength in depth. Sahra is quite a big price as she hasn’t been far away since winning at Canterbury.
