Goodwood 1.50

Tough race to start ITV Racing on Saturday but I do think HELLO YOU has to go close. This Invincible Spirit filly looked an exciting prospect winning head in chest on debut and while she has been held since she has bumped into Sandrine twice at Ascot and Newmarket and then wasn’t beaten that far by Zain Caludette and co in the Lowther at York. If she can settle better she will see her race out better and that should give her a good chance in calmer waters.

Clitheroe impressed me on debut and I think she might be the danger. She is entitled to be more streetwise now and I thought she was quite unlucky not to win that to be honest. Daneh has been the one for money and it’s interesting she was highly tried so soon last time.

Beverley 2.05

Farhan has been taken out this morning so we have a replacement for you in the Silver Cup now. Frankel colt BARN OWL could have the edge on this field. He has improved a chunk since having a wind op and going handicapping showing a good attitude to win up in trip at Ripon in June. That looks a solid bit of form and while he was a bit flat at Sandown I thought he was back to his best at Ripon last time up to a mile and a half. He ran on well but just bumped into a progressive horse on the day in the shape of Chalk Stream. Back down to a mile and a quarter I think he can take full advantage and still has potential to rate better yet.

Titian is probably the danger on raw ability but he does have fitness to prove back from a break. The market should prove informative to his chance in the run up to the race. Mr Excellency ran too freely at Goodwood so that might be worth forgiving. Nice horse who could bounce back. Life On The Rocks also deserves a mention as he is gradually improving.

Goodwood 2.25

The improving VALUE TIP looks hard to oppose here. He followed up his Doncaster romp with a convincing performance at Newbury last time. He was given a confident ride by Adam Kirby held up last of all and he made smooth headway through the field and ran on strongly at the finish to win with a fair bit up his sleeve. He is up 4lb from that and this is obviously tougher but you get the feeling he isn’t done yet and I think he can bring up the four-timer for Clive Cox.

The yard also saddles the second favourite Dance Fever who looked good winning at Leicester last month and has backed that up with two good runs in defeat since. He should keep the selection honest. Escobar, Al Rufaa, Kimifive and Persuasion are all entitled to get competitive but they have a bit to prove unlike the selection.

Newmarket (July) 2.45

Not a bad renewal of the Hopeful Stakes but TABDEED does look the standout horse in here. He has won a Group 3 and gone close to a few more wins at that level in the last year. He drops down to a Listed race here which should be a fair bit easier and if running to the same level as his run behind Happy Romance in the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury he will win this.

Of the rest I think Khaadem could be a danger to the selection at a nice each way price. He has gone well over 6 furlongs this season going close plenty but his best form is over course and distance and it could bring the best out of him.

Goodwood 3.00

This looks all about NAGANO here as he bids to make it 4 from his last 5. He picked up really well from off the pace to score here over a mile and a half last month and while this is tougher now into Group company he does set the standard and with more to come is hard to oppose despite the likely short odds. He will be ridden quietly by David Egan and hopefully he travels into it strongly and just picks them off in the closing stages.

Dancing King was denied just a short head at Chester last time. That was a Listed race so this is tougher but he is likeable so shouldn’t be entirely ruled out. Classic Lord might emerge as the surprise danger. His form stacks up and I think he might finish second.

Beverley 3.15

One of the biggest races of the year at Beverley and it looks between the previous two winners of the race DAKOTA GOLD and Judicial. The latter may have beaten the selection on his last run but has to give him 3lb on Saturday. Dakota Gold since ran with credit in the Wooton Bassett at York which looked a top quality renewal. If Dakota Gold can get anywhere near his time figure when winning this last year he will win this.

Judicial as mentioned is the main danger but the penalty will make it tougher. With plenty of pace on in this race it could pay to favour one from off the speed to fill the places and the mare Wise Words could be the one to take advantage of the generous pace.

Goodwood 3.35

I’m looking forward to seeing BENBATL at Goodwood on Saturday. He is a high-class horse at his best and while we haven’t seen him for nearly a year he goes particularly well fresh so I’m expecting him to be primed to run a big race. He was last seen going down just a length to Kameko in a Group 2 at Newmarket and given his age he remains reasonably lightly raced. This looks a good starting point for him and the market is already speaking positively which is a good sign.

Chindit is the obvious danger as he hasn’t been running badly at the top level and he’ll find this easier than the race he contested behind Palace Pier in France last time. Mutasaabeq won nicely at Haydock but this is tougher. Perotto looks quite a big price and might be value to hit the frame.
