Race 8 Del Mar 9.38 Jackie’s Warrior (1/1)

Smart colt who showed a great attitude to fend off another progressive horse in Life Is Good in a Grade 1 at Saratoga on penultimate start; impressive winner at Philadelphia last time; spot on for this and hard to oppose.

I can’t wait to see JACKIE’S WARRIOR at Del Mar tonight. He is a colt going places and I loved the attitude he showed under pressure to fend off Life Is Good at Saratoga on penultimate start. He improved again to win head in chest at Philadelphia last time and with the promise of more to come again he gets a confident vote to see these off from the front. He has early speed to burn so should bounce out the gates, get on the speed, and hopefully not see another rival. Dr. Schivel is the danger. This colt has won 5 in a row and his form certainly stacks up and after just 7 starts will have more to come as well. He will concede first-run though and it’s not going to be easy to peg back such a talented horse.

Talented mare who swept home from off the pace to win this impressively last year; looked as good as ever this season chasing home St Mark’s Basilica in Ireland then touched off in the Arc; should defend her crown.

A race that favours the Europeans and TARNAWA has a great chance of retaining her crown in this race after defeating Magical last year. She was last seen going so close to winning the Arc and if it wasn’t heavy ground she may have won it. She gets firm ground again here and she is the one they all have to beat. Dermot Weld has sounded so bullish in the run up to this year’s Breeders’ Cup and I’ll be surprised if she is beaten. She has a potent turn of foot and that should see her a cut above this field. Teona really stepped forward at Longchamp last time to beat Snowfall but it is hard to tell if she can back that up here. YIBIR is worth an each way saver as he could still be improving.
