NAP – Best selection of the evening

THE US NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 11 AT CHURCHILL DOWNS ON SATURDAY!

Race 11 Churchill Downs 11.06 Almanzo (7/4)

Improving colt who needed the experience when only fourth on debut but quickly stepped forward from that to run a big race in second at Keeneland last month despite things not going his way; more to come and hard to oppose.

This looks a great chance for ALMANZO to open his account. I just think he got racing too soon last time and the horse that eventually won had a great trip round and the pair pulled clear. He is going to improve again and should be more streetwise tonight. Hopefully Brawndo and Lake Tahoe take each other on and this time it’s the selection that gets a good toe in before sweeping through up the straight. The danger is Call Me Midnight who only went down 3 lengths last time and also looks capable of better. Oiler was behind the selection on debut so has work to do to close that gap. Probably needs more time. Quick To Blame makes his debut and is worth noting in the market.

Race 9 Aqueduct 8.43 Flavius (5/2)

Progressive sort who stepped forward again to win at Saratoga on penultimate start beating Tell Your Daddy in good style; tough ask last time and better than that; hard to oppose if bouncing back here.

With both Our Last Buck and Bay Harbour likely to come out (Main Track Only) I can see FLAVIUS going off a short price for this. His form has a progressive look to it and I’m happy to forgive him that run last time as it came in graded company. This is easier and he has more to offer yet so he gets a confident vote to come out on top and make it 2 wins from his last 3 starts. Rinaldi impressed at Saratoga on penultimate start but didn’t back that up last time. If he bounces back he could be the danger but a bit to prove right now. Tell Your Daddy has been really consistent with form figures of 212 but has been held twice by the fav so I can’t see him turning that form around this evening.
