THE US NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 8 AT CHURCHILL DOWNS ON FRIDAY NIGHT!

Race 8 Churchill Downs 9.36 Leddy (10/11)

Smart colt who left his debut run miles behind bolting up over 6f here at the start of the month, really impressing in the closing stages; sure to improve again and should relish this extra furlong so hard to get away from.

I’m looking forward to seeing LEDDY out again tonight for Steven Asmussen. He ran out a mightily impressive winner over 6f here last time and with promise to do better again up in trip tonight he can follow up. It’s a good race though that should throw up plenty of future winners but he looks to have the most potential of them. Florida Gator is a perfect 2-2 and looks set to put up the most resistance. He did just enough to win at Belmont last time and should give his running again but lacks the class-edge the fav brings to the table. Demogorgon won at Woodbine last time but has enough to find to follow up here. Red Label is battle hardened but lacks the quality of the fav so might always struggle.

Race 5 Gulfstream Park 7.23 Rapturous (13/8)

Promising filly who made it a perfect 2-2 winning in gutsy fashion over C&D last month; likeable attitude off the bridle and scope to improve again so expected to be hard to beat as she bids to bring up the hat-trick.

I’ve got to be with RAPTUROUS here. She beat Strategy Queen on debut and that filly won her next start easily to frank the form. The selection then won again over track and trip last month and looks firmly on the upgrade now. Boo Boo Kitty was denied a head on debut and then shaped with promise again when third last time so has to enter calculations but I think she’ll need more to beat the selection and the second fav for that matter. Sequin Lady impressed on a sloppy track last month but this is a different ballgame against some improvers. Runaway Breeze has been mixing it with some decent types but she was very disappointing last time so will need to bounce back to compete.
