Race 7 Cairns 7.15 Journey Of Song (10/11)

Useful type who has been a big eye-catcher recently running on strongly for a close-up third at Townsville and then backing that up with a good second over track and trip last time; this looks a great opportunity.

The Aussie NAP won again overnight so we’re now chasing a FOUR-TIMER on Tuesday morning. JOURNEY OF SONG is probably a tad short but he clearly deserves to be favourite on recent evidence and if he finds a little bit more he should see these off comfortably. He has been a big eye-catcher running on strongly on penultimate start and then finding just the one too good here last time. This is easier and he is the most likely winner on paper. Millaa Miss finished to good effect when second last time and would be the danger if building on that. Toff Rocks is a bit more exposed than the selection but hasn’t been running badly so also has to enter calculations.

Likeable type who took his form to a new level winning well at Muswellbrook on return from 5 months off the track; fitter now and can do better again so obvious claims of following up in this field; sure to go close.

The Aussie NB missed by a whisker overnight so hopefully we can go one better on Tuesday morning. We head to Newcastle where MIRACLE DAY looks a good bet to follow up for Kris Lees and Aaron Bullock. He really impressed on return and has the potential to keep getting better. Velorum is bred to be pretty smart but has just the 1 win from 6 starts so far. He should run well but does need to find a bit more to trouble this favourite. Tupelawara is unexposed and definitely deserves a mention but he ran a bit flat overnight so is probably unlikely to take up this engagement. Impact Star showed a good attitude to win at Port Macquarie but let backers down last time and has enough to prove now.
