Cheltenham 1.50

Other than Frodon putting up a big performance to win this off top weight it rarely goes to one of those near the top of the weights. COOLE CODY may be getting on a bit now but he ran a cracker at the track last time before falling late. He would have gone close and if that fall hasn’t left it’s mark he will go well at a decent each way price.

DOSTAL PHIL is the other one I quite like here after running a good fourth in the race Coole Cody fell in. That was his first run back for the season and he should improve a bundle for it. The winner of that race Midnight Shadow and Lalor will be big dangers but Midnight Shadow is carrying a lot more weight.

Doncaster 2.05

Only 9 runners heading to post for this but it doesn’t get any easier. This is fiercely competitive but I do think TAKEIT EASY will go well. His recent form figures of 16311212 speaks volumes and he ran right up to form again when chasing home Onemorefortheroad at Huntingdon last time. He runs off the same mark here and everything suggests he is going to be seriously competitive again.

Sonigino is very much unexposed but will need to better than third on debut for this yard last time to feature. Tommy’s Oscar was back to his best at Haydock and if he builds on that he could easily emerge as the main danger.

Cheltenham 2.25

This looks a decent renewal with BLAZING KHAL the one to beat after winning here last time over a shorter trip. He gets a 5lb penalty for that but seems to be getting better the further he goes. He finished out the race like a horse that would get further and is the one they all have to beat.

Gelino Bello gets a nice swing in the weights but still may have a bit to find with the selection if his improvement continues. Barony Legends made a winning start over hurdles but this is definitely tougher so he’s going to need a big performance to peg back either of the front pair.

Doncaster 2.40

I really liked what I saw from PORTICELLO at Wetherby and I marked him down as a horse to keep on the right side of. This is a good race but I think he can remain unbeaten for Gary Moore. He is a big strong horse who is still learning the game but this test should suit and he can make it 3-3 over hurdles.

Magistrato was my idea of the main danger given Paul Nicholls’ record in the race but with him a non runner this morning Too Friendly is probably now the one I fear most. He impressed in tough conditions at Newcastle and looks to have more to come. Knight Salute is unbeaten as well and also has to be respected. This should throw up plenty of future winners.

Cheltenham 3.00

The International looks an interesting race with last years winner Song For Someone dropping back in trip. SCEAU ROYAL is the one to beat in his current vein of form. He went close in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle when last seen which came on the back of two nice wins to start the season. He has won over course and distance before and if recovered from that run at Newcastle he will go very close here.

Song For Someone may have needed the run in the Coral Hurdle when losing to a race-fit Buzz. He will make it a good battle and is a danger to all. Ballyadam is interesting back over hurdles but has a bit to find with the top two in the market.

Doncaster 3.15

Another tough race to dissect but I can see THE WOLF going close. He was only beaten a couple of lengths when last seen at Perth in April and given he has a good record fresh he could run well with this test expected to suit. He has only actually run 6 times over fences so there is good reason to expect more to come now. Even at the time of writing he is proving quite popular in the betting so he could go off shorter than 7/2.

Two For Gold is probably favourite by default given how tough he is but I don’t see much value in his price and he might be worth opposing. Kauto Riko was pulled up on final start but also goes well fresh so a big run would hardly surprise.

Cheltenham 3.35

Wide open handicap to cap off the card at Cheltenham and the unexposed TRAPISTA is very much of interest. She is 2 from 2 over hurdles and seems to have plenty more to come. She pulled clear comfortably at Huntingdon and I fully expect her to be better than her current mark of 131.

Wynn House is the main danger after a good win on her seasonal reappearance and if stepping forward from that run she will go well here. Indefatigable needs to bounce back from a poor run at Newbury but is the class horse in here.
