NAP – Best selection of the evening

Ascot 2.55 Pic D’Orhy (6/5)

Won despite mistakes at Ffos Las on return in October; looked to have the race in the bag before coming down at Newbury last time; big engine so if he stays on his feet he should have too much for these rivals.

It was a shame to see PIC D’ORHY crash out at Newbury as he was in the process of running an impressive race and was 4 lengths clear at the time. He looked to have the race in safe keeping and if he can put in a clean round here I think he’ll gain compensation. He clearly has a big engine and still has potential for more in this discipline. With no obvious pace on Cobden will push forward and look to burn them off. Faivoir has 7lb to find on official ratings but is open to improvement so looks most likely to emerge as the danger but I’ll be surprised if he can beat the selection. Fifty Ball perhaps best of the rest if you’re looking for a match bet against either of the other pair.

NB – Second best selection of the day

THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT UTTOXETER ON FRIDAY!

Uttoxeter 3.10 Greatest Star (7/4)

Still looked a horse learning his trade when a distant fourth at Hereford on hurdles debut but came on plenty for that to win well at Southwell last time; definitely more to come and opening mark looks lenient.

I’m surprised GREATEST STAR isn’t odds-on here as he won with plenty to spare at Southwell and an opening mark of just 105 looks lenient with potential to improve a fair bit yet. The yard remain in form and this looks a good opportunity. Ace Time won at Leicester 3 weeks ago and looks the danger off the back of that but he is up 7lb so this demands more up against an improver. Gavin won over C&D last month and still shaped well up 11lb at Southwell. He is still off a fair mark so might not be too far away again. Court Dancer won over this track and trip back in the summer but has struggled twice since so has enough to prove at present. The rest don’t look good enough.
