NAP – Best selection of the evening
Kelso 3.10 Mister Whitaker (2/1)
Back to form with a convincing win over hurdles here in November and backed that up with a good second at Sedgefield last month; had a wind op since and looks well handicapped back over fences; should win.
The NAP is on a hat-trick with another winner yesterday. We head to Scotland where MISTER WHITAKER can make a winning return to fences. He has had a wind op since finishing second over hurdles at Sedgefield and should be spot on for this. The handicapper has given him a big shout dropping him to a mark of just 139 and I’ll be very surprised if he is beaten. Big River won this last year but he is a 12yo now and is 3lb higher this time around. He will be staying on strongly but definitely lacks a gear and if the selection runs his race he will just have too much toe over this trip. Saint Xavier is too inconsistent to fancy and Cash To Ash seems to find one or two too good.

Southwell 3.00 Devasboy (2/1)
Likeable colt who made all to win impressively at Newcastle last week and still looked full of running in the closing stages; turned out quickly under a penalty but with the yard going great guns should be too good.
I do think Imperial Mountain is a nice colt too but an opening mark of 83 certainly isn’t a given and he bumps into a horse thriving in the shape of DEVASBOY for Mark Johnston. He made all impressively at Newcastle and a similar performance here could easily be enough to burn these off as well. He has a penalty to carry but remains open to further improvement and is hard to oppose off the back of such a dominant performance. The yard are going really well with a 25% strike rate in the past fortnight and Fanning is also riding at the top of his game right now. Neat And Dandy arrives chasing a hat-trick and also deserves respect as that is good form beating Taj Alola last time too.
