Race 4 Muswellbrook 4.40 Miss Powerbelle (11/10)

Good looking chestnut mare who showed a good attitude to return with a win at Tamworth and bring up the hat-trick; improving all the time and with the promise of more to come she can go in again here.

This looks a great chance for MISS POWERBELLE to extend her winning sequence. She is chasing four wins in a row and dug deep last time. 4 of her 5 career wins have come over this trip and she is going to take all the beating again. Bengalla Bay has some decent form in the book and has won at this track too which is a positive so he looks the most likely danger. Eiger is fairly unexposed but has done all his best work over further so he has to prove he has the speed for this drop in trip. Gidgee Guy is a solid yardstick but has been out of form in recent starts so a bounce back is definitely called for. Genera Scarlet might be a bit of value to hit the frame as ran well when second at Inverell last time.

Race 5 Muswellbrook 5.20 Phule (9/4)

Promising filly who made the perfect start winning on debut at Tamworth; broke awkwardly before going down just a nose at Coffs Harbour last month; unlucky not to be chasing a hat-trick and can improve again.

I’m keen to stick with PHULE at Muswellbrook on Monday as she is a bit unlucky not to be unbeaten. She only went down a nose last time and the start cost her victory. With better luck here she should get back to winning ways and make it 2 wins from just 3 starts. She ran on strongly from off the pace last time but I don’t expect her to be that far off it here. Foxstorm has just the 1 win from 11 starts and neither have come over trip or at this track. I think he is opposable on the balance of his form. Milingimbi won on debut and looks the danger to the favourite. She will need to progress again but that is likely and she should run her race but may well still come up short. Sharpay Ruler best of the rest.
