NAP – Best selection of the evening
Ludlow 1.30 Zacony Rebel (10/11)
Improving hurdler who left previous form behind to win impressively at Fontwell back in October; good effort in defeat when a close second at Huntingdon last month; sets the standard and still has more to come himself.
After just four starts over hurdles it’s highly unlikely we’ve seen the best of ZACONY REBEL and this looks a good opportunity for him to make it 2 wins from his last 3 starts. He went down just a length and a half on first start in handicap company at Huntingdon last time and given he already sets the standard on that and has further improvement to come he should be hard to beat. The front pair pulled clear from the rest last time and the winner Restandbethankful looks a horse with potential himself so that is good form. High Tech makes his debut for Dr Richard Newland and he could emerge as the danger if taking to hurdling. Kobra lines up for Dan Skelton and is another one who could improve.

Newcastle 6.00 Antiphon (5/4)
Promising colt who improved to win at Chelmsford over 6f last month; got racing too soon when only fifth at Lingfield; better than that and should relish the drop back in trip; looks likely to take all the beating.
With Coolmeen Royal now out this looks a great chance for ANTIPHON to get back in the winners enclosure. She impressed on penultimate start and wasn’t seen to best effect at Lingfield last time. Hopefully she can settle a bit better but the drop back in trip is a good move anyway and she should take plenty of catching. Firebomb finally made the breakthrough at Southwell but is up 4lb and isn’t certain to transfer that form to this track. I actually think Unfinishedsympathy could be the one to chase the favourite home as she makes her handicap debut following a break and could improve. Lunasa has won over track and trip but didn’t exactly catch the eye when only fifth on her return.
