NAP – Best selection of the evening
Wetherby 3.15 Sholokjack (11/10)
Well regarded sort who was snapped up by connections after winning an Irish point; looked the part on debut over hurdles winning well at Leicester last month; sure to improve and up to defying a penalty.
The NAP landed again yesterday so we’re now on a FOUR-TIMER on Thursday. We head over to Wetherby where SHOLOKJACK should take all the beating for Dan and Harry Skelton. He created a good impression on debut under Rules and is only going to progress with experience. This looks another good stepping stone and I’ll be surprised if he’s beat. The danger could be Rossbeigh Strand who ran well when runner-up on debut over hurdles and like the fav is going to improve. Of the rest Where’s Hector is a half-brother to the useful Does He Know and can run well but is probably a chaser for the future. Chase Outlaw is also interesting so I’ll be keeping an eye on the market for that one.

Newcastle 3.53 First Charge (15/8)
Likeable type who has won 3 of his last 4 now and knuckled down well under pressure to prevail narrowly at Kempton when last seen; up just 2lb so another big run looks on the cards freshened up after a short break.
Given FIRST CHARGE continues to win by such small margins it’s hard for the handicapper to punish him all that much and a further 2lb rise doesn’t look enough to anchor this former C&D winner. He did well to hold on at Kempton last time and has thrived since being upped in trip. I still think there is more in the locker yet and he looks to have found another great chance of notching up another victory. The danger is likely Khilwafy who is lightly raced and improved to finish second at Southwell last time. If he builds on that again he should be the one fighting it out with the fav. Vis A Vis wasn’t disgraced when third at Kempton and also has to be considered on his return.
