NAP – Best selection of the evening

Aintree 2.20 Jonbon (5/4)

Progressive hurdler who found all bar stablemate Constitution Hill too strong in the Supreme at Cheltenham last month; hard to oppose off the back of that with the promise of more to come yet; should win.

This looks a great opportunity for JONBON to make it 4 wins from 5 starts over hurdles. He was far from disgraced when second in the Supreme and with a slicker round of jumping he can resume his progress here. He faces nothing of the calibre of Constitution Hill and really should prove too good for these. It could easily be a 1-2 for Nicky Henderson with First Street coming here off the back of that promising second to State Man in the County. That came after an excellent third in the Betfair Hurdle so his form stacks up. Of the rest El Fabiolo won a maiden impressively at Tramore but this is obviously a big step up from that but he still has to be noted in opposition.

NAP

Aintree 2.20 Jonbon (5/4)

Aintree 3.30 Fakir D’Oudairies (6/4)

Likeable sort who won this impressively by 11 lengths last year and has looked as good as ever this campaign winning the Ascot Chase when last seen in February, jumping well; clearly the one to beat again.

This race very much revolves around FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES and I’ll be surprised if he is beaten. He won this 11 lengths last year having chased Allaho home in the Ryanair and comes here this year an even fresher horse having bypassed Cheltenham. He is very consistent and if he jumps as well as he did at Ascot I can’t see much living with him in here. The market looks to have it spot on with Funambule Sivola likely to emerge as the main danger to the favourite. He ran on well to finish second to Energumene in the Champion Chase. He needs to prove himself over this trip but he still looks on the upgrade so should run well. Allmankind could end up being best of the rest.
