Thursday’s Best Tips
NAP WON AGAIN YESTERDAY! We’re chasing a hat-trick on Thursday. Racing from Salisbury, York, Perth, Clonmel, Fontwell and Newmarket. Daily Double pays 3/1!
NAP – Best selection of the evening
Salisbury 2.35 Missed The Cut (10/11)
Shaped with promise when fourth at Newmarket on debut and quickly improved to win emphatically at Pontefract last month; sure to keep progressing with the step back up in trip firmly in his favour.
The way MISSED THE CUT quickened up at Pontefract last time was very impressive and with further improvement to come going back up in trip he gets a confident vote to defy a penalty here. With Daiquiri likely to push forward he should have a good pace to run down and it’s no surprise to see him trading at a shade of odds-on at the time of writing. Naval College caught the eye when fourth at Nottingham and with natural improvement looks the most obvious danger to the favourite. Daiquiri is likely better than what he has shown but might set this up for them if he goes too hard off the front. Balhambar definitely has potential going forward but will likely need more time and experience.
Fontwell 6.55 Coal Stock (6/5)
Improved for the switch to this yard winning unchallenged at Chepstow last month and then made all again over C&D 8 days ago; escapes a penalty as that was a conditional jockeys’ event so big shout.
A small field for this handicap hurdle and COAL STOCK should be able to dictate. If he gets into a good rhythm under 5lb claimer Harry Kimber I don’t think they’ll see which way he goes. He is 4lb well-in and should confirm that recent C&D form with Touchthesoul. The latter is off 3lb better terms but that doesn’t look enough to me. He does still look the danger though as Beholden was beaten over 3 lengths off this mark last time and looks to need more. George Bancroft was beaten over 8 lengths at Market Rasen when last seen in March and also needs to find more to get seriously competitive here as the front pair look poised to battle this one out.
