Royal Ascot 2.30 Albany Stakes

As always a wide open Albany with over half the field unbeaten and with a lot of potential to come. MAWJ really caught the eye on debut running out an easy winner at Newmarket. She won that by nearly 5 lengths on fast ground and it has been franked by the horse in second since. There looks to be speed all around her and she should go very well.

At a nice each way price LADY BULLET could go very well after the form of her two wins worked out nicely. She won easily enough last time out and if taking a similar step forward looks a good bet. Mediate is the main danger with a Group 3 already in the book. It is harder to gauge what she has beaten though. Fully Wet is the other one I think will run a big race.

Royal Ascot 3.05 Commonwealth Cup

This surely revolves around PERFECT POWER? He had the measure of Go Bears Go in the Norfolk here last year before going on to win the Group 1 Prix Morny and then the Middle Park. He took the step up to 7f in his stride to win the Greenham where he beat Lusail and that horse has really franked the form since chasing home Coroebus here earlier in the week. He then failed to prove as effective over a mile in the Guineas and should relish this step back down to sprinting. I’m really struggling to find many negatives so Richard Fahey could look to have another Royal Ascot winner on his hands.

There is one I like at a double-figure price too in TIBER FLOW for William Haggas. I just think inexperience got the better of him when missing out to El Caballo at Newcastle and he definitely built on that again to beat Ehraz a short head at Newbury. The latter obviously ties in closely but is a much shorter price. I think Tiber Flow can step forward again with headgear applied and he looks way too big at 12/1. El Caballo would still have to be a danger given the run of form he is on but I just feel he might be found wanting here and one or two could improve past him.

Royal Ascot 3.40 Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes

It may not be the biggest field of the day but even still on the round course you usually need plenty of luck so I will have two in this. CEMHAAN is my stronger selection after two pleasing runs this season winning both nicely. The form of those races has worked out well and I expect him to run a massive race for the George Baker yard.

My other selection CONTACT is a shorter price and goes with a similar chance. Like the selection he has won his last two in what look good races at Haydock and Newmarket. He ran well at Ascot towards the back of last season and might be better on this quicker surface. As you can imagine there are dangers galore with Trawlerman and Candleford looking the biggest threats.

Royal Ascot 4.20 Coronation Stakes

This is a nightmare to try and work out I have to admit! I’m definitely willing to take on Inspiral as we haven’t seen her for 252 days now and John Gosden has admitted that she has suffered a few setbacks. If she isn’t at her best she could prove vulnerable and given the run of form Frankie Dettori is on I think she might be opposable here. I’m going to chance DISCOVERIES at an each way price. She actually beat the Oaks winner Tuesday in a maiden at the Curragh last summer and signed off last campaign with a win in the Moyglare Stud Stakes. I think she needs the run in the Guineas beaten 5 lengths and I can see her coming into her own now. Her half sister Alpine Star and full sister Alpha Centauri both won this so she is bred to relish this test.

Inspiral still looms as a danger if she is fit enough to do herself justice and Cachet also has to be mentioned. The latter has already had a pretty tough season though so it might catch up with her at some point. I thought Prosperous Voyage may well improve again to chase home the selection having missed the ferry to France. With French runners having a good record in the race Mangoustine also deserves a mention.

Royal Ascot 5.00 Sandringham Stakes

Charlie Fellowes and Hayley Turner have teamed up to win 2 of the last 3 renewals of this race at big prices (both 33/1) FRESH HOPE has been well found in the market (second fav at the time of writing). She seems to have really stepped forward this season with a good run behind Rogue Millennium before winning over a mile at Doncaster. Both of those runs were on fast ground and she should relish this trip off a mark of just 82.

At a bigger price LOVE INTEREST could still be well handicapped after two third placed finishes this season. It may not sound great but she has bumped into some really good horses including Nashwa who ran so well in the Oaks. She gets Tudhope onboard and a good draw in 6 and she may outrun her odds. Heredia is 3 from 3 winning easily by small margins leaving the handicapper with not much room to put her up. She rates the main danger along with the improving Washraa.

Royal Ascot 5.35 King Edward VII Stakes

There might only be the 6 runners for this but it is fiercely competitive. I do like OTTOMAN FLEET for Charlie Appleby. We have obviously only seen him twice so it is very much potential rather than proven form but he ran well on debut in a maiden that has worked out well since and then he stayed on well to win convincingly at Newmarket last month. He’ll need to leave that bare form behind to win this but he could easily take a big enough step forward here to win this.

Changingoftheguard sets the standard having won the Chester Vase impressively and then finishing fifth in the Derby. I think he’d prefer softer ground though and this is coming soon enough. If he goes forward I think he’ll face pace pressure too from the likes of Dark Moon Rising and that would be far from ideal. Of the rest Lysander deserves a mention as he finished third to a horse I rate in Lionel at Goodwood and looks open to further improvement.

Royal Ascot 5.35 King Edward VII Stakes

Ottoman Fleet 2/1

ITV Racing 4/1 offer available on this race

Royal Ascot 6.10 Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes

We cap off day 4 at Royal Ascot with a 29 runner 5 furlong sprint and I fancy a few in here at varying prices. LADIES CHURCH has been in some very good races over the last year finishing close behind Sacred Bridge and Geocentric who are rated 107 and 104. She should improve for her seasonal reappearance and a mark of 98 looks workable thats for sure.

At a bigger price I noted down NAVELLO when he took a big step forward on fast ground with most of his runs on the all weather or softer turf. He seemed to thrive for the better ground and he could have more to come. I was going to have just two selections but EDWARD CORNELIUS back down to 5 furlongs could be well overpriced at 40/1 (at the time of writing). He has some of the best speedfigures and could make experience count. Plenty of dangers obviously with Korke and Latin Lover likely leading them.
