MY US NAP RUNS IN RACE 8 AT BELMONT PARK ON SUNDAY NIGHT!

Race 8 Belmont Park 9.40 Copper Town (2/1)

Tough sort who is a three-time course winner and was only beaten two lengths at Keeneland two months ago; likely to go off the front under Irad Ortiz Jr and should take plenty of catching; looks the most likely winner.

Despite Money In The Bank and Alcools both arriving as last time out winners I think this is a great chance for Wesley Ward’s COPPER TOWN to get himself back in the winners enclosure. On all known form I think he is a bit better than these and that last run wasn’t too bad beaten just a couple of lengths. He will improve and is lightly raced for his age so there could be a fair bit more in the tank yet. Money In The Bank won narrowly last time and I’m not sold by him to be honest. I think Alcools will emerge as a greater danger for Linda Rice. He has won twice over C&D in the past and if he produces his best he will definitely ask a question of the selection. Absentee and Striking Speed both need more.

Race 9 Gulfstream Park 9.48 Sacred Sunday (2/1)

Likeable type who was sent off big odds when denied just a neck here last time; switched barns now and remains open to further improvement given how unexposed she is so good chance of taking out this contest this evening.

With the promise of more to come SACRED SUNDAY can get herself back in the winners enclosure at Gulfstream Park tonight. She went close last time and that was a very good effort in what looked to be better company than this. If she repeats that and I think she’ll actually build on it then she should be hard to beat and 2/1 will look good value. Miracle Drug was beaten a couple of lengths into second last time and that must bring her into the equation. Arrow Shape has been busy for a 3yo but failed to live up to market expectation last time. She should be thereabouts but I prefer the selection who looks on a more upward curve now. Meet The Beauty also respected but likely place claims at best.
