NAP – My best tip of the day
Musselburgh 1.40 Masked Crusader (best price 1/1)
Progressive over hurdles last season winning 2 from 3 and shaped as though he’d improve for the run when fourth on reappearance at Catterick on chase debut; first-time tongue-tie and should be hard to beat.
After a really good day on Saturday both my best bets were disappointing yesterday. Hopefully I can get back on track as we start a new week and MASKED CRUSADER catches the eye at Musselburgh. He seemed to need the run and probably the experience on chase debut at Catterick and with that under his belt I’m anticipating a much improved performance here. He needed his first run last season too so should come on plenty. He is still armed with plenty of potential as a chaser and it is no surprise to see him a warm order for this. Diamond State won his first two starts last season and hasn’t run badly over fences the last twice so does look the biggest danger to the selection.

Lingfield 2.55 Mark Of Gold (best price 13/8)
Likeable type who was fairly useful on the Flat and won 3 times over hurdles last season; winning return at Plumpton and handed a tough ask in the Greatwood last time; should win back down in grade.
With 4 wins from his last 7 starts over hurdles MARK OF GOLD should prove tough to beat here. He was pitched into the Greatwood at Cheltenham last time but found that company too hot to handle. Back down in grade here he should find this a lot easier and he will be hard to beat if returning to the form that saw him win so easily at Plumpton on return. He is up in trip which could be a catalyst for further improvement. Give Me A Cuddle made a bright start winning on debut over hurdles but was beaten quite a long way despite finishing second at Market Rasen on final start back in the summer. Still retains potential though and may well prove to be the biggest threat to the favourite.
