The Aussie NAP was back in the winners enclosure overnight as Selburose won again at Canterbury. Busy night coming up with racing from Morphettville, Rosehill, Doomben and Ascot.

Race 8 Ascot 8.50 Royal Command (6/4)

Smart type who probably needed the run back from a break when denied just a neck by Luke’s Gold over shorter here last month; not disgraced in good company here last time; up in trip which should bring about further improvement.

This looks a good opportunity for ROYAL COMMAND to get himself back in the winners enclosure. He steps up to this trip for the first time but should be hitting peak fitness now and that latest effort reads well in the context of this race. He should have every chance of adding win number 7 of his career here. Paddy’s Shadow caught the eye when second last time and may be the horse to give the favourite most to think about. At the prices you can probably have an each way saver on here. Spiritual Warrior is also quite a big price if he bounces back. Around 16/1 and might be worth backing to run on into a place. It’s a good race with strength in depth but the selection looks hard to oppose.

Race 2 Rosehill 2.50 Almania (6/4)

Strong staying type who ran a very promising race on his Australian debut when second at Flemington beaten just a nose by Barade; Bowman stays onboard and better clearly expected; sure to go close.

The step back up to this trip can help ALMANIA here and he looks a good bet to open his account Down Under. Previously trained by Sir Michael Stoute and then David Simcock this horse has achieved plenty and looks a decent purchase for connections. He will be galloping on relentlessly when the others have cried enough and he ticks plenty of boxes. Stockman got too far back last weekend but should also appreciate going up to this trip in first-time blinkers. Looks the danger as I think he is a nice horse in the making. Relucent is in great nick and shouldn’t be far away either in another good race. I’ll be disappointed if the favourite can’t get the job done.
