THE AUSSIE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 4 AT CANBERRA ON FRIDAY MORNING!

Race 4 Canberra 5.10 Rubaiya (13/8)

Good looking mare who won in eye-catching style back from 10 months off to make the breakthrough over shorter here last month; step up in trip will suit and she is hard to oppose with further improvement to come.

Given the rider lost his whip the way RUBAIYA ran on strongly from off the pace was quite impressive here last time and with more to come up in trip she is hard to get away from as she bids to follow up. She has the widest gate in 10 but there is good speed engaged here so expect her to get a nice toe into it before looking to strike late. Morgenstern also brings winning form to the table and has to be respected. This is tougher though so he’s going to need to improve again to challenge the favourite. Legal Challenge also opened his account last time and like the latter he is going to need to step forward another chunk to land a blow. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Divine Future run well at a bigger price.

Race 4 Tamworth 5.25 Ready By Design (7/4)

Progressive sort who has won 2 of his last 3 and came storming home to win with a bit to spare at Gosford over this trip last time; form is stacking up and this looks another good opportunity so worth keeping safe.

We head to Tamworth overnight for our second best bet Down Under and READY BY DESIGN should take some holding out. He finished off his race really powerfully last time to get there with a bit in hand and if it pans out favourably for him again here he is going to take a lot of stopping. His form is progressive and there should be more to come yet. This is quite competitive but I think he’ll be finishing best and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t manage to pick them up. Point Counterpoint is well bred and won at Armidale last month. Consistent type but needs more on that to win this. Chocolatier has been threatening but just 4 wins from 25 starts suggests the selection can improve past him.
