Race 3 Mackay 5.27 Gamboa (10/11)

Progressive type who bumped into a good horse when second over slightly further here last time; overraced latest so needs to settle early; more to come though and hard to get away from in this field.

Some good racing overnight Down Under and I’m looking forward to seeing GAMBOA out again. He was improving leaps and bounds and was far from disgraced when denied half a length by Star Of O’Reilly last time. That horse also runs on this card and is our Value Tip (in the 7.20am) so if the NAP goes in it will give a good pointer to later. The selection was on a real roll and can resume his progression here. I don’t see anything good enough to challenge him if he is on his game and can drop his head early. Ask Me Tomorrow has 3 wins from 8 starts and is 2-3 at this track so has to be respected. Looks the one to chase him home. Cool Intelligence brings winning form to the table but this is much tougher.

Race 2 Taree 4.25 Patino Ruby (1/1)

Promising filly who has won 2 from 3 and should win this before going on to better things; won a trial at Muswellbrook last month so should be spot on for this and definitely one to keep safe today and going forward.

Great chance for PATINO RUBY to make it 3 from 4 for Brett Cavanough and Aaron Bullock. This filly looks to be going places and won in good style when last seen at Scone. She ran on strongly from off the pace on that occasion and similar tactics might be applied here. She will be fit from that trial win and can go right on with it now. Nicci Trix also looks a nice filly in the making with 2 wins from 5 runs and a couple of places. She has a bright future but I do think she’s bumping into a potentially smart horse here. The pair should finish 1-2 so if you wanted insurance you could even back the reverse forecast. Crowned Empress narrowly preferred as best of the rest.
