Race 8 Doomben 6.47 Shooting For Gold (10/11)

Good looking chestnut who is chasing a hat-trick after landing back-to-back races at Eagle Farm the last twice; building a nice profile now with 6 wins from 10 starts and can improve again so leading claims here.

I think SHOOTING FOR GOLD is a sprinter going places and while this is his toughest ask to date stepping into open company he is quite exciting and I fancy him to land the hat-trick. He impressed with how he settled it last time and can improve again. He should relish the pace they go here and I can see him swooping over the top late. Ef Troop stepped forward to go down narrowly second up last time. Fitter now and looks one of the main dangers to the favourite. Totally Charmed has won his last 3 and is now 7 from 18 so also looms as a threat to the selection but Shooting For Gold is still improving and is unexposed so should have their measure. Hard to see anything else being good enough.

Race 3 Randwick 3.25 Dream Runner (6/4)

Talented sort who went down just a nose at Rosehill last month; ability to win this easily so hopefully the blinkers straighten him out as capable of better yet and should have too much for these; will be finishing best of all.

With Nothing Compares, Bold And Wild and Reach Beyond all pushing forward this could be run at a really good gallop and if it is that will suit DREAM RUNNER massively. He is very talented but at the same time isn’t the most straightforward. If he gets an end-to-end gallop at aim at he should run them all down with a minimum of fuss but sometimes you do need a bit of luck coming from off the pace. Zoo Station is a decent mare with 3 wins from 7 starts and she is the danger to the fav. She has been highly tried since winning at Rosehill and should find this a bit easier so definitely looks a threat. Of the rest Bold And Wild is consistent enough and won’t be far away. So Say You is also worth a second look.
