Race 5 Eagle Farm 5.56 Contemptuous (10/11)

Promising type who rounded off last campaign with a dominant win at Ipswich, galloping them into submission; awkwardly away and bled when beaten a neck on return at Doomben; won a trial since and fitter so big chance now.

The Aussie NAP was back in the winners enclosure overnight so we have now landed 9 FROM OUR LAST 11 which is one of the best runs we’ve had Down Under. We head to Eagle Farm on Wednesday morning for our best bet and CONTEMPTUOUS can make it 2 wins from his last 3. He has 3 wins and 4 placed efforts from just 8 starts so is building a nice profile. He was a bit unlucky on return as he was awkward leaving the stalls and bled from one nostril before going down a neck. With that under his belt and a trial win to his name since he can get back on track here. Montenegro Man is talented but blew out at Moonee Valley last time. If he bounces back he’ll be the danger but enough to prove.

Race 7 Wellington 7.34 Deshawn (6/4)

Good looking sort who has won 2 of his last 3 and impressed showing a good attitude to win by a nose at Narromine last month; at the top of his game now and looks hard to oppose in what appears to be another winnable race.

This looks all about DESHAWN and I think he’ll go off shorter than the 6/4 on offer at the time of writing. He has won 2 of his last 3 and to be honest is a bit unlucky not to have landed a hat-trick having gone down just a neck at Cowra on penultimate start. He knows how to win and that should count for plenty in this field. Jin Chi Phantom is second in the betting but he has just 3 wins from 27 starts so while I think he’ll run well he is a bit vulnerable for win purposes and looks a bit short in the betting to me. To be honest similar comments apply to both Larynx and Proudest Moment. Lady Riz might be a bit overpriced as she ran well when second at Alice Springs last month.
