NAP – Best selection of the evening
Pontefract 2.55 Stag Horn (6/5)
Tough colt who won this in good style last year, making all and never looked like getting caught; ran no race in France when last seen but given time since and this easier so good chance he bounces back and proves too good for them here.
With doubts over the stamina of Here And Now STAG HORN is a really strong play here. He wears his heart on his sleeve and while things didn’t go to plan in France when last seen he has been given time since and under positive tactics from Hollie Doyle I don’t think he’ll be caught here. If he produces his best form they won’t get near him. Here And Now did look good winning at Wolverhampton and he should be spot on after that reappearance run but the trip has to be a big worry for me. The ground is already Soft and there is more rain due to this is going to take some getting. Stag Horn is proven in such conditions and is taken to have too much. The other three all have enough to prove.
Plumpton 3.40 Botox Has (6/4)
Won fresh for the last two seasons running and was notably impressive thrashing the opposition at Cheltenham this time last year; things not gone to plan since but has plenty of potential now chasing and looks sure to go well.
Gary Moore will be hoping BOTOX HAS can make his mark over fences and this looks a good starting point. He goes particularly well fresh and if he takes to the larger obstacles he might just be too classy for his two rivals. His hurdles form was very good and while he went off the boil over winter he still retains potential in this sphere. Pisgah Pike is a horse I like but I was a bit disappointed with him at Worcester last time. That form has been well advertised since by the second winning yesterday so he might emerge as the main danger. Up The Straight sets the standard but wasn’t at his best when last seen and does have a bit to prove for me as he lacks consistency. Should be a good race.
