Race 6 Albury 6.45 Controversial Miss (10/11)

Improving filly who needed the experience on debut before going for a spell; still learning when fourth at Bendigo and best run yet denied just half a length at Wagga latest; could easily make all here; worth chancing.

This looks a great opportunity for CONTROVERSIAL MISS to shed the maiden-tag. She was only edged out late at Wagga last time and even a reproduction of that would probably suffice but I think she’s going to improve. She will be fitter and has potential to do better now. I’m expecting her to push forward from a wide gate and she should take plenty of catching. Superadobe has shown glimpses of promise in two starts and could improve to be the danger. Destiny’s Ghost has already had 4 runs but ran her best race when third on return so can also do better but probably best chance is a place again. Both Princess Warrior and Vancouver Miss have enough to find off debut efforts to land a blow here.

Race 2 Warrnambool 2.50 Inthelapofthegods (6/5)

Likeable type who was rewarded for his consistency to win convincingly at Echuca last month, nicely on top at the line; remains open to further improvement going up in trip and worth keeping on side against these.

It’s hard to look past INTHELAPOFTHEGODS here for Nathan Dunn and Will Gordon. This 5yo was rewarded for his consistency at Echuca last time and with more to come going up in trip he can get the better of these. Fabalot has been finishing nearer last than first in recent runs so needs to bounce back here to trouble the selection. This is easier but even still I’m not convinced by him. Zalmatian is more exposed compared to the front pair but did run well at Hamilton on penultimate start. He wasn’t so good at Yarra Valley last time but if bouncing back should be best of the rest. Hunua Hank, Jumbo Prince, Arlington Valley and Patriot Missile all have enough to prove and are readily passed over.
