THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT KEMPTON ON MONDAY AFTERNOON!

Kempton 1.20 Sopran Thor (5/6)

Created a big impression dotting up on chase debut at Lingfield last month; improving all the time and with the yard going great guns he should take all the beating turned out quickly under a penalty; obvious chance.

The way SOPRAN THOR won at Lingfield on his chasing debut was mightily impressive and a 7lb penalty is unlikely to stop him going in again here. He was still moving strongly turning in and took it up still racing enthusiastically. He was asked up at the last and jumped it beautifully before galloping away from them crossing the line some 19 lengths clear from the rest with them well strung out. The ground will be faster at Kempton on Monday but he won his final start over hurdles on good ground so I think he is versatile in that regard. Brief Ambition is the danger if taking to fences. He didn’t look the most straightforward over timber but clearly has an engine so should keep the fav honest.

NAP

Kempton 1.20 Sopran Thor (5/6)

Carlisle 1.00 Midnight River (5/4)

Reached a high level over hurdles looking a nice horse winning at Ascot in February and was still in the race when falling in the Sefton when last seen at Aintree; had a wind op and looks a decent prospect to go chasing.

It was a shame to see MIDNIGHT RIVER crash out at Aintree as he was still in with a squeak. That was the first time he had failed to finish a race in 8 starts so I have no reason to doubt his jumping technique. He had looked accomplished before that and he should give fences the respect they deserve. I think he’ll make a winning chase debut here and probably at the main expense of Notre Pari. The latter looked to need the experience over fences last season and might be capable of better especially with the yard going well enough. Emir Sacree defied a lengthy absence to make a winning start for Nicky Henderson at Ascot but was too keen when last seen. Has run over fences in France.
