Race 5 Gundagai 4.30 Controversial Miss (11/10)

Smart filly who is improving fast; built on an encouraging run at Wagga to win impressively at Albury last week; scope to kick on again and looks well placed to follow up here; should prove too strong.

The Aussie NAP was back in the winners enclosure overnight and we head into Friday with confidence high. Last time out winner CONTROVERSIAL MISS looks hard to beat again. She thrashed them at Albury and a repeat of that would be enough to see these off before being targeted at better things. Blessed Award is a decent yardstick in opposition but only has the 1 win to his name. Ran well the last twice though so shouldn’t be far away again. Jack The Brumby has finished runner-up 6 times and didn’t shape badly at Sapphire Coast last time. This probably tougher though so he needs more again. Super Riff best of the rest and put that Wagga disappointment behind with a solid fourth last time.

Race 8 Kyneton 6.40 Gorokan Express (2/1)

Likeable type who comes here knocking on the door having gone down just a length at Swan Hill last time; won 6 times already and with the original fav now out this looks a great opportunity on paper; most likely winner.

I was initially really keen on the progressive Mortal Witness but with that horse now out and Hot Glory also scratched this looks a great chance for GOROKAN EXPRESS to get himself back in the winners enclosure and record a seventh victory of his career. I did fear him but I just thought he was more exposed than the original selection but there is no doubting his form and he should have more of these covered. Bailarin won at Traralgon last time but this is definitely tougher and I can’t see her improving past the selection. Chich’s Spirit has gone off the boil and is hard to warm to. Logo Logic is best of the rest and ran much better when third last time so could run a nice race.
